Research & Development Engineer II
- Develop innovative approaches for applying coatings to complex substrates in alignment with specifications and customer requirements
- Select, prepare, and formulate new coating solutions
- Lead technical investigations to troubleshoot process issues, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions
- Operate, maintain, and enhance processing equipment including coatings machine and friction testers
- Train team members on processes, equipment, and best practices
- Prepare coating procedures, technical reports, and work instructions
- Document hazard analysis for new raw materials and chemical processes
- Collaborate with cross-functional, global teams on coatings system development
- B.S. in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science & Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or any other related discipline with preferably 3-7 years industrial experience in a laboratory setting, medical devices or coatings.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to deliver accurate, high-quality work under tight deadlines
- Proficient in laboratory techniques and analytical testing.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Solid understanding of chemical process hazards
Office and laboratory environments with occasional manufacturing and warehouse area exposure. Physical requirements are those that could be reasonably anticipated given the job duties and work environment. Travel limited to 5% between office locations. Exposure to hazardous chemicals in certain areas of the office. Must wear required personal protective equipment while demonstrating safe working practices. Physical Requirements
Physical Demands-Stooping, turning, bending, squatting, kneeling and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds; constant/repetitive standing; requires normal, correctable vision and hearing, and the ability to accurately discern color as necessary to perform job functions.
