Travelling Air Compressor Technician

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Travelling Centrifugal Compressor Service Technician to
join our growing team. This individual will be responsible for performing preventive maintenance,
troubleshooting, repairs, and overhauls on centrifugal air compressors at customer sites
across the U.S. This is a hands-on, customer-facing role that requires strong technical expertise and a
passion for delivering top-tier service.

Key Responsibilities:
* Accurately and efficiently perform complete overhauls and rebuilds of centrifugal air
compressors (air ends, gearboxes, etc.)
* Troubleshoot mechanical and operational issues on centrifugal compressors and recommend
effective solutions
* Conduct on-site rotor balancing and alignment to precise specifications
* Interpret vibration, temperature, and pressure data to diagnose compressor performance
issues
* Provide expert-level technical support and professional communication to customers in the
field or remotely
* Maintain a high standard of safety and cleanliness while working on or around industrial
equipment
* Ensure tooling and calibration equipment is maintained and used correctly
* Complete detailed service reports, work orders, and field documentation accurately and on
time
* Identify potential up sell opportunities for parts or service upgrades while on-site
* Train and mentor junior technicians when required
* Travel frequently (up to 75%) to customer sites across North America, with occasional
international travel
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise:
* 3+ years of hands-on experience servicing centrifugal compressors (F’S-Elliott experience preferred)
* Strong mechanical aptitude with demonstrated understanding of rotating equipment,
tolerances, clearances, and alignment procedures
* Proficient in using precision measurement tools (e.g., micrometers, calipers, dial indicators)
* Familiarity with interpreting technical manuals, schematics, and compressor diagrams
* Basic electrical knowledge and understanding of compressor control systems
* Strong communication skills and a customer-first attitude
* Comfortable working independently in the field with limited supervision
* Computer literacy, especially with Microsoft Office and service reporting tools
* Valid driver’s license and ability to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential card if necessary
* Willingness to work flexible hours, including nights or weekends as required by customer
demand
