The Grant Accountant is responsible for securing revenue through cost reimbursement and fee for service invoicing, providing a detailed record of how funds are received and used in compliance with funder contracts. Reporting to the Director of Financial Operations, this position works collaboratively with other members of the finance team, Program Directors, and Program VPs

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Uphold the mission, vision and values of CORA Services which includes valuing all individuals and supporting each individual’s potential for growth
• Manage and prepare invoices for assigned grants/contracts according to funder requirements; obtain appropriate finance team approvals; submit monthly & quarterly invoices to funders; record revenue
• Record payments received; reconcile outstanding AR and contact funders for outstanding payments
• As directed, close out grants and file required financial reports
• Prepare monthly statements of activities for each department; review and analyze all expenses; initiate corrective steps for transactions requiring adjustments
• Review & report variances between planned and actual expenses for cost reimbursement programs; review actual revenue and expenses of assigned contracts/programs and assist with preparing projections for the remainder of the fiscal year
• Act as a liaison between the Program Departments and Funders to resolve any financial issues or discrepancies
• Understand employee payroll allocations and impact on budgets; review and compare actual payroll allocations against budgeted or adjusted allocation based on program changes
• Implement and monitor procedures to communicate, educate and ensure compliance with internal policies and applicable contract requirements to secure revenue; research issues and or discrepancies and suggest solutions.
• Assist in preparing year-end reports, work papers and analysis as directed to complete the annual audit of assigned grants

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Prior experience in an accounting or bookkeeping function desired; grant accounting experience is a plus

• Experience with accounting and financial software programs

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related discipline preferred but not required

• Advanced proficiency with Excel and other MS Office applications

• Ability to establish & maintain strong working relationships with agency staff at all levels, as well as clients, vendors, interns and peers from other agencies

• Outstanding interpersonal skills and problem-solving ability

• Ability to be effective and meet deadlines while working independently
