The Construction Inspection Technician will perform field inspections, materials testing, and construction observation to ensure that projects meet design specifications, regulatory requirements, and client expectations. This position works closely with project managers, engineers, and construction teams to document progress, identify and resolve issues, and uphold the highest standards of quality and safety.

Responsibilities:

• Perform construction quality assurance inspections and observations for civil, environmental, and energy-related projects.
• Conduct field testing of soils, concrete, geosynthetics, and mechanical (piping) systems.
• Perform density and compaction testing using nuclear and non-nuclear gauges, as well as proof-roll testing.
• Interpret engineering drawings, details, and technical specifications to ensure construction compliance.
• Coordinate with soils/geotechnical and geosynthetic testing laboratories for sample analysis.
• Perform environmental inspections for erosion and sediment control, stormwater management, and permit compliance.
• Observe and document on-site construction activities, contractor performance, and deviations from design plans.
• Prepare daily field reports, material testing logs, and equipment records.
• Collaborate with project managers, contractors, and clients to ensure timely completion of project milestones.
• During periods of limited field work, assist with AutoCAD drafting, operations, or other engineering support tasks.

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma Required
• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in technical or engineering-related discipline a +
• Two (2) or more years of experience performing Construction inspections and/or field testing on civil or environmental projects.
  • Similar job titles: Environmental Field Technician, Environmental Construction Technician, Environmental Compliance Technician, Civil Engineering Field Technician, Construction Quality Control Technician
• Knowledge of soils testing, geosynthetics installation, and quality assurance documentation.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Experience with AutoCAD or similar drafting software a plus.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering plans and specifications.
• Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Capable of working both independently and collaboratively in the field.
• Willingness to perform fieldwork year-round and travel as required.
• Travel is within a two-hour radius
