PART-TIME CUSTODIAN District-Wide

· Initial Assignment – (Secondary Campus)

· Week 1 – Mon. Tues. & Wed. 6:30 AM -3:00 PM/Thurs. and Friday off

· Week 2 – Thurs & Friday 6:30 AM -3:00 PM

· $20.16/hr. After completing a sixty (60) workday probationary period at a 10% rate reduction (per CBA).

● Successful candidates will need a pre-employment drug test, physical, and TB test, current clearances for Act 24, Act 34, Act 114, Act 151, and Act 168.

POSITION: CUSTODIAN

Position Description

POSITION TITLE: Custodian DATE: Revised 2/8/2023.

DEPARTMENT: Buildings & Grounds LOCATION: District-Wide -PT & FT

REPORTS TO: Director of Buildings & Grounds

POSITION GOAL: School Custodians keep educational facilities clean and safe. They work both inside and outside the building, performing tasks that keep the school looking nice and running smoothly. They are responsible for maintaining, cleaning, and disinfecting all areas of the building.

Essential Functions & Duties:

The Custodian duties will include:

1. Report all unsafe conditions.

2. Check all doors and windows to maintain security in the building.

3. See that pencil sharpeners, waste cans, and trash receptacles are emptied.

4. Dust and clean windows, door panels, blackboards, Promethean boards, and lockers, possibly using step ladders.

5. Wash and dust fixtures, windowsills, trim, doors, and furnishings.

6. Clean and service lavatories, restrooms, and toilets.

7. Monitor and inspect the building facility for safety and cleanliness. Maintain and make minor repairs to the facility. Troubleshoot and report maintenance needs to the Director of Buildings and Grounds. Notify the Director of Buildings and Grounds of hazardous or harmful situations.

8. Secure the facility by locking doors and windows and setting alarms. Monitor building security throughout the shift. Report supply and equipment needs to the Head Custodian.

9. Collect all paper and debris in containers for pick-up daily.

10. Check, clean, and properly care for all cleaning equipment and tools; repair as needed; maintain all custodial closets (to be kept clean, free of debris, and organized).

11. Report all equipment damage that needs repair.

12. Shovel snow and ice from sidewalks to ensure safe egress to and from the building.

13. Cut the grass.

14. Lock and unlock doors to classrooms, offices, etc. Maintain locked doors.

15. Render assistance to staff by supervising the exit of students during drills.

16. Assist with the inventory of supplies.

17. Be thoroughly acquainted with all light and power electrical panels, where they are, and what they operate.

18. See that all fire and safety regulations are met throughout the building and report any and all abnormalities to the supervisor.

19. Be responsible for timely reporting of absences/time off in the Frontline absence system.

20. Responsible for maintaining, cleaning, and disinfecting all areas of a facility. Perform basic cleaning, sanitation, and minor upkeep of an assigned building and associated grounds, including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, polishing, trash removal, etc.

21. Provide high-level customer service for school events and community activities, including set-up/clean-up.

22. Perform any other related duties as assigned by the Director of Buildings and Grounds.

23. Cutting the grass in the courtyard

24. Emptying the garbage can receptacles outside the school doors.

25. Set up before and clean up after all after-school activities.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. High School Diploma

2. Demonstrates interest in buildings and grounds to keep staff and students safe.

3. Evidence of emotional maturity and stability necessary for the specialized work involved.

4. Work independently and self-motivated.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

1. Hourly rate according to the agreement between the Crestwood School District Board of Directors and support staff CBA.
