Job Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Estimator to join our team. This is an entry-level/possibly mid-level position ideal for someone who takes genuine pride in their work and isn't satisfied with "good enough." We're looking for someone eager to learn all aspects of estimating, who will take ownership of their bids and put in the effort to get them right. This position will play a vital role in our bidding process by preparing accurate estimates for our clients. You will be essential in securing new business through competitive and timely bids.
Key Responsibilities:
- Download and organize all necessary bid documents (e.g. bid invitations, drawings, specifications, addenda, project schedules, logistics plans, etc.).
- Thoroughly review these bid documents to understand the scope of the project.
- Occasionally travel to job sites to attend walk-throughs to better understand logistics.
- Establish quantities and perform accurate material take-offs using Bluebeam Revu and Microsoft Excel.
- Source and secure pricing from suppliers and subcontractors. Analyze quotes for completeness and ensure that competing prices are “apples-to-apples”.
- Work with and develop productive relationships with coworkers, vendors, suppliers, and subcontractors as well as our clients, the general contractors. Collaboration is encouraged and can be helpful in assessing feasibility and optimizing costs.
- Prepare detailed proposals including a written scope of work along with our complete list of exclusions and qualifications within the established deadlines.
- Maintain clear and organized records of bid documentation and communication.
Who We're Looking For:
The right person for this role cares about the quality of their work—not because someone is checking, but because that's just who they are. You double-check your numbers. You ask questions when something doesn't make sense. You stay late when a bid needs to go out, not because you're told to, but because getting it right matters to you. We're a small team that depends on each other, and we need someone who shows up ready to contribute.
Requirements:
· Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
· Good communication and interpersonal skills.
· Strong work ethic and a willingness to put in the effort required to produce quality work.
· Organized with an ability to multi-task and prioritize.
· Problem-solver with strong math and analytical skills.
· Professional, constructive, and positive attitude.
· Experience working with Architectural and Structural drawings.
· Ability to interpret drawings and specifications accurately.
· College degree is preferred.
· Experience with Bluebeam Revu preferred; training provided.
