Senior Outside Sales Representative
As a key member of PPG’s Industrial Coatings sales team, you will serve as a strategic business driver responsible for expanding new business while strengthening and growing existing customer accounts. This role requires a true hunter—someone who thrives on identifying opportunities, opening new doors, and driving profitable growth—combined with the consultative depth needed to manage and develop long-term customer relationships.
You will build strategic account plans, engage directly with customer decision makers at all levels, and partner cross-functionally with commercial, technical, and segment leaders to deliver coating solutions that meet evolving market needs. Your insights into customer challenges, industry trends, and competitive dynamics will help shape product development, pricing strategies, and long-term growth initiatives. Responsibilities- Drive new business growth by identifying, qualifying, and converting new industrial accounts while expanding share within existing customers.
- Develop and execute account strategies with clear goals, milestones, and performance metrics.
- Grow volume, revenue, and profitability across assigned territories and markets.
- Build strong, multi-level customer relationships and position PPG as a trusted technical and commercial partner.
- Utilize VOC (Voice of the Customer) insights to guide product development, application support, and innovation priorities.
- Align internal resources—including technical, R&D, marketing, and leadership teams—to support customer needs and strategic opportunities.
- Assess long- and short-term customer requirements and identify opportunities for new products, technologies, and qualification programs.
- Gather and analyze competitive intelligence to inform account strategy and market positioning.
- Develop comprehensive growth plans outlining customer trends, competitive activity, major account profiles, and five-year revenue and product roadmaps.
- Collaborate with the Sales Manager to create and implement pricing strategies.
- Evaluate resource needs and ensure support teams are positioned to meet growth targets.
- Lead strategic negotiations and manage the successful execution of commercial agreements.
- Implement sales and marketing initiatives in partnership with operations, product management, and technical teams to support customer satisfaction and product adoption.
- Maintain consistent communication with the Sales Manager regarding KPIs, performance, and areas requiring attention.
- BA/BS in Business, Engineering, Chemistry, or related discipline; equivalent experience considered.
- 5+ years of B2B sales experience with industrial products or similar technical markets.
- Strong understanding of the industrial coatings industry, technologies, and market dynamics.
- Proven hunter mentality with a track record of new business development.
- Highly self-motivated, disciplined, and results-oriented.
- Willingness to travel up to 75% to visit customers and attend key meetings – US (Canada/Mexico, when needed)
