Job Description
The Production Machine Operator safely produces and finishes high-quality cast molded products in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This role involves operating production machinery, performing precise measurements and inspections, maintaining accurate documentation, and supporting continuous improvement in quality and efficiency. The position includes fixed and rotating shift options and requires consistent attention to safety, quality, and housekeeping standards.
Responsibilities
- Operate production machinery to safely produce and finish quality cast molded products according to standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Cut materials to specified tolerances, following all SOPs and manufacturing order instructions.
- Measure products using tape measures, micrometers, calipers, and verniers to ensure adherence to specifications.
- Visually inspect products throughout the process to identify defects or deviations from quality standards.
- Perform in-process quality checks and take appropriate corrective action when process deviations occur.
- Maintain accurate work documentation, including computer entries and hand-written records, to track production and quality data.
- Read and follow production schedules, shop orders, and manufacturing orders to ensure timely completion of work.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and orderly work area, upholding high housekeeping standards and caring for company property.
- Load and unload annealing rigs, carts, and ovens to maximize annealing throughput and support efficient production flow.
Essential Skills
- 1–3 years of hands-on experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
- At least 2 years of experience working in a manufacturing setting, with exposure to production processes.
- Proficiency in machine operation in a production or manufacturing environment.
- Ability to accurately measure to 1/16 of an inch using a tape measure.
- Ability to use micrometers and other precision measuring tools to verify product dimensions.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
- Ability to read, write, and comprehend English to understand work orders, instructions, and safety information.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience operating table saws, extrusion equipment, overhead cranes, CNC machines, or similar industrial equipment.
- Prior experience with micrometers, calipers, and other precision measuring instruments.
- General production, inspection, and hand tool experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Forklift operation experience or willingness to learn.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow SOPs and work instructions precisely.
- Ability to perform repetitive tasks while maintaining focus on quality and safety.
This is a Permanent position based out of Reading, PA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $22.72 - $22.72/hr.
