21st CCLC Afterschool Classroom Paraprofessional - Job Description

Hourly Rate: $17/per hour

East End United Community Center is seeking qualified candidates for our afterschool programs as a classroom paraprofessional at One Voice One Community and Laurel Highlands Middle School. This program is composed of students in grades 6-9. Qualified candidates will be expected to carry out the teaching aide duties required for the East End United Community Center’s 21st CCLC Program, as well as participate in experiences presented by various partner organizations.

Responsibilities:

• Assist teachers with creating a classroom culture that encourages group thinking, curiosity and discovery
• Aid with the preparation of program materials as it relates to daily lesson plans
• Work individually with students to ensure benefits and success of the assignment or task
• Collaborate with teachers to execute lessons with a strong S.T.E.A.M. emphasis
• Communicate with students, parents, staff and students’ daytime classroom teacher (when applicable)
• Help the teacher implement EEUCC’s daily expectations
• Assist teacher with keeping accurate records of attendance, activities, and lesson plans
• Commitment to classroom engagement in collaboration with the classroom teacher
• Other duties as necessary

Minimum Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Awareness of classroom management and organization
• Experience working with students in a classroom setting preferred
• Excellent oral communication skills
• Must obtain PA Child Abuse, FBI, and Criminal Background Check clearances

• Monday – Thursday, 9AM – 1PM
