Lititz – Personal Care Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)

We’re currently seeking dedicated PC LPNs at Luther Acres, a Luthercare community in Lititz, PA. We are hiring for FT and PT positions.

WHAT YOU DO:

As an LPN at our Luther Acres, you’re an integral part of providing compassionate care to the residents in our Personal Care and ensuring they are comfortable by monitoring their overall health and well-being. You’ll do this in several ways, including:

  1. Observe residents and report changes in resident condition or symptoms of illness to medical provider and/or PC Manager, as necessary. Obtain and monitor vital signs and assist with emergency situations and ambulation. Encourage residents to remain active and attend social functions and programs. Assist with the development and carry-out of activities and programs on a routine basis under the leadership of the activity staff.
  2. May provide assistance with general housekeeping tasks including but not limited to: the changing of linens, proper care of clothing, maintaining general appearance, and emptying waste paper baskets, and maintain floor cleanliness. May assist residents with use of personal washer and dryer.
  3. Provides advanced medical support and direction to the care center and direction to staff and campus residents as needed. Assist with assessments, DMEs and Resident Assessment Support Plan (RASP) process. Also assists with admission, discharge and transfer process.
  4. Provide functional supervision to personal care staff. Assist Manager with training and in-service programs.
  5. Receive verbal orders from physicians including lab work, x-rays, holter monitor requests, etc. Provide follow up with appropriate documentation. Verify medication orders with physician upon resident admission or discharge from hospital. Assist with resident health assessments. Supervise and assist residents with medications, including insulin injections and blood sugar checks. Performs nursing duties following licensure scope of practice.

Our LPNs are assisted by our Resident Care Aides/Med Techs in providing care to our residents.

ABOUT LUTHER ACRES: 

Luther Acres – located in the charming, historic town of Lititz – is a Continuing Care Retirement Community with a long history of providing excellent care and services. It is part of Luthercare, which is a not-for-profit, faith-based, and mission-driven organization. Luthercare provides a network of services through its full continuum of care with two communities in Lancaster County. Luther Acres is its largest community, with nearly 600 residents living across its independent living cottages and apartments, personal care apartments, and skilled nursing healthcare center.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  1. Current & valid PA Licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse.
  2. Successful completion of the PA Department of Human Services (DHS) Direct Care Staff Person Training Course/Test.
  3. Individuals in this position must have obtained age twenty-one (21) prior to first day of employment or transfer into position.
  4. Current First Aid and CPR/AED certification or willingness to be trained by St John’s Herr Estate during employment.
  5. Review portions of the PA DHS Medication Assistance Training program as assigned and stay current with regulation changes as necessary.

Exposure to Hazardous Conditions:

  1. Exposure to blood and body fluids is occasional.
  2. Exposure to cleaning chemicals is occasional.
