Purpose
The Director of Accounting & Financial Reporting is a strategic leadership role responsible for overseeing financial reporting, technical accounting, tax compliance, and internal control processes at PANTHERx. This individual plays a key role in ensuring the integrity, accuracy, and transparency of the company’s financial information, while also acting as a trusted advisor to senior leadership. In addition to ensuring compliance with GAAP and tax regulations, the Director will provide critical accounting insights and guidance on complex business transactions, support external audits, and help build a scalable accounting infrastructure to support PANTHERx’s continued growth. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in leading and developing a high-performing team. Pharmacy or healthcare industry experience is preferred but not required.
Responsibilities
- Owns the execution of the annual external audit in a timely manner, including preparation of the financial statements and accompanying notes.
- Manages the completion of the annual Federal and SALT Tax filings with external tax consultants.
- Owns the decision making around complex transactions, including assisting with evaluating the accounting consequences of potential transactions and providing input and suggestions to planned and proposed agreements.
- Assists the Controller and CFO in compliance with debt and lender reporting.
- Drives the creation, implementation, and maintenance of high quality internal controls, policies, and procedures.
- Creates and executes an internal risk assessment process to support the business in a ‘first line of defense’ capacity.
- Supports the Controller in identifying and implementing process improvements to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of financial operations.
- Manages and supports month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting, ensuring compliance with GAAP, and internal accounting policies.
- Runs the preparation and analysis of all financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements in conjunction with the FP&A team; provides period-over-period variance analysis and insights, identifying financial trends, risks, and opportunities.
- Reviews various balance sheet account reconciliations for accuracy, including bank accounts, accounts receivable, and accounts payable, and ensures accurate and timely recording of financial transactions, reconciliations, and journal entries.
- Owns the day-to-day management of the Company’s Cap Table, ensuring a high-level of accuracy and confidentiality.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
- CPA Licensure.
- Minimum of 10 years prior accounting experience.
- 3+ Years of Public Accounting experience, Big 4 or equivalent.
- Demonstrated success supervising and leading an Accounting team.
- Advanced knowledge of GAAP and federal and state tax laws.
- Excellent working knowledge of MS Office, and NetSuite or similar Accounting software.
- Strong organizational and time management skills with an ability to work in a fast-paced environment while meeting deadlines.
- Demonstrated attention to detail while also considering an enterprise-level view.
- Future-focused approach to support the company’s progress and initiatives and guide the Accounting team through continuous improvements.
- Demonstrated ability to clearly and concisely document and effectively communicate complex Accounting and reporting issues to both Finance and non-Finance employees.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to provide business explanations for balance, flux, trends, etc.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with a high commitment to ethics and integrity.
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience in a pharmacy environment.
Work Environment
This position operates in a professional office or home office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers and fax machines.

Visual acuity is necessary for tasks such as reading and working with various forms of data on a screen.
