Scientist, Viral Vector Development

Job Description

One of our large pharmaceutical clients in Spring House, PA is seeking a lab-based Scientist to support viral vector development through the execution of phase-appropriate analytical assays. This role sits at the transition point between discovery and development, supporting rapid decision-making around product quality and manufacturability. The position is execution-focused (not assay development) and heavily focused on supporting upstream cell culture and process development.

Key Responsibilities:

• Upstream cell culture and process development activities in lab

• Execute routine analytical assays including:

o PCR-based assays (qPCR/ddPCR)

o Mass photometry

o Alkaline agarose gels and protein gels (SDS-PAGE)

o ELISA and other plate-based assays

o DLS

• Perform in-process and development-stage testing to support early pipeline programs

• Support transition of analytical assays earlier in development with a focus on reliable execution

• Analyze, document, and communicate results clearly to cross-functional partners

• Maintain ELN records, SOP adherence, and general lab readiness

• Support chromatography-related analytics and maintain working knowledge of downstream purification

Skills and Requirements

• BS or MS in Biology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or related field

• 3+ years of hands-on experience executing plate-based assays and routine analytical methods

• Experience with PCR and gel-based electrophoresis

• Strong attention to detail, documentation, and data quality

• Adaptable and comfortable working with demanding stakeholders

• Willing to learn existing workflows and take ownership of routine analytics - Experience with viral vectors (AAV/LVV)

• Familiarity with mass photometry, DLS, and chromatography

• Working knowledge of downstream purification processes
