Attorney general

Thompson Staffing is looking to hire an Associate Attorney with general liability/insurance defense experience to work for a law firm in Scranton, PA . Candidate MUST be a member of the Pennsylvania State bar in GOOD standing. Candidate will be responsible for:

• Defending and advocating for clients in matters involving General Liability, Commercial Litigation, Construction Defect, Transportation/Trucking, Labor/Employment Litigation, and Professional Liability
• Attorney with Workers' Compensation experience a plus
• File review and legal analysis of claims and causes of action
• Extensive legal research and drafting of substantial briefs, memos, pleadings, and appellate briefs
• Annual billable amount of 1950 hours required
• Regularly representing clients in court, at arbitrations and in depositions
• Drafting and responding to discovery requests
• Expert witness retention and collaboration
• Trial preparation and attendance
• Some travel may be required
• 3+ years’ experience in Civil Litigation experience with an emphasis in insurance defense.
• J.D. degree from an ABA-approved law school
• Admitted to practice in the state of PA, other states a plus, but not required
• Strong work ethic, ability to self-manage and work in a team environment
• Superior analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent client skills and telephone manner
• Experience participating in negotiations and mediations
• Solid research abilities and written and oral communication skills
• Strong work ethic, ability to self-manage and work in a team environment
• Courtroom experience and a desire to grow as a trial/litigation attorney
