Position Overview
We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer to design, develop, and optimize mechanical systems, parts, and equipment for manufacturing and automation applications. The role focuses on using CAD (SolidWorks) to create robust, manufacturable designs for machines and components, specifying servos and automation elements, supporting machining and fabrication, and troubleshooting issues during prototyping and production. The Mechanical Engineer will collaborate closely with manufacturing, controls, and product teams to deliver reliable, cost-effective solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop detailed 3D CAD models and 2D drawings for parts, components, and assemblies using SolidWorks.
• Design mechanical systems and equipment for automation, including selection and specification of servos, actuators, and motion components.
• Create and maintain bills of materials (BOMs), part specs, and procurement documentation.
• Collaborate with manufacturing, fabrication, and machining teams to ensure designs are producible and cost-effective.
• Prototype, test, and validate mechanical designs; iterate based on test results and feedback.
• Troubleshoot machine and component issues in prototype and production environments, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
• Work with controls engineers to integrate mechanical and electrical systems for automated equipment.
• Support commissioning, installation, and start-up of machinery at internal and customer sites.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product reliability, performance, and manufacturability.
• Provide technical guidance and documentation for assembly, maintenance, and repair procedures.

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 2+ years of hands-on experience in mechanical design, machine design, or manufacturing engineering (automation experience preferred).
• Proven proficiency in SolidWorks and CAD modeling for parts, assemblies, and detailed drawings.
• Experience with machining, fabrication, and manufacturing processes; strong understanding of tolerances and GD&T.
• Familiarity with servos, actuators, motion control concepts, and selecting components for automation systems.
• Demonstrated troubleshooting skills for machines and components in both prototype and production settings.
• Experience creating BOMs, part specifications, and working with suppliers for parts and components.
• Strong problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and effective communication skills for cross-functional collaboration.
• Ability to prioritize tasks, manage projects, and deliver designs that meet cost, quality, and schedule targets.
