Histotechnologist Job Details – Danville, PA

• Position Type: Locum tenens (Travel hospital laboratory job)
• Location: Danville, Pennsylvania 17822
• Healthcare Setting: Hospital Laboratory (Lab Collections Unit)
• Start Date: September 22, 2025
• End Date: April 7, 2026
• Contract Duration: 28 weeks
• Weekly Hours: 40 hours per week
• Shift: 8-hour night shifts
• Estimated Weekly Pay: $1,720 - $1,770

Histotechnologist Qualifications

• Graduate of a histology specialty training program (required)
• Associate's degree in laboratory science or related field (preferred)
• Minimum 1 year of clinical laboratory experience (required)
• Certified Histotechnician (ASCP) credential (required)
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to laboratory quality standards
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills in a healthcare environment

Histotechnologist Responsibilities

• Process and prepare tissue specimens for diagnostic examination by pathologists
• Operate laboratory processing equipment and perform manual tissue fixation
• Embed specimens in paraffin and ensure accurate orientation for sectioning
• Perform microtomy and produce high-quality microscopic slides for clinical review
• Conduct routine and special staining procedures for pathology diagnosis
• Maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment; participate in preventive maintenance
• Assist with laboratory supply handling, inventory management, and quality improvement initiatives
• Participate in competency assessments and training of new laboratory staff
• Support the hospital laboratory's commitment to safety, clinical excellence, and innovation in healthcare
