ICU RN - Intermediate Care Unit Float Pool

Job Description

The ICU RN will be part of the Float Pool, providing care in the Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU), step-down units, and occasionally assisting in medical/surgical units. The expected nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:2, with a maximum ratio of 3:1. The RN will assess, implement, and evaluate patient care under the supervision of a licensed physician, promoting individualization of care through collaboration with patients, families, and healthcare teams.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care according to standards of nursing practice and departmental policies.
• Monitor and manage complex patient conditions such as withdrawal syndromes, hypertensive urgencies, and diabetic ketoacidosis.
• Direct nursing support staff in patient care procedures.
• Conduct assessments, implement interventions, and evaluate patient outcomes.
• Work collaboratively with the healthcare team to enhance patient care delivery.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• Active PA or MSL Compact Registered Nurse License.
• 2 years of experience in a related clinical specialty area, with at least 2 years of general RN experience.
• Basic Life Support certification required; additional certifications per specialty may be required.
