Steel Mill Electrical Systems Electrician
Steel Mill Electrical Systems Electrician
Question for you: Are you the go-to problem-solver when a motor, drive, or PLC won’t cooperate? If yes, you’ll feel right at home powering continuous operations at U. S. Steel.
One application, three options: Apply once to be considered for roles across Clairton Works, Irvin Works, and Edgar Thomson Works in the Mon Valley.
Why this role?
- You’ll troubleshoot and repair industrial electrical/electronic equipment using prints, AC/DC systems, PLC logic, and test gear.
- You’ll keep production moving by assisting operations when needed and by performing installs, maintenance, and repairs on a wide range of plant electrical systems.
- You’ll work solo with minimal oversight at times — and other times shoulder-to-shoulder with maintenance teammates.
- You’ll navigate diverse environments that can be hot or cold, wet or greasy, and often loud — the authentic steelmaking experience.
- You’ll make use of specialized tools and interact with mobile equipment, pendant and overhead cranes, and forklifts.
Do you meet these requirements?
- At least 1 year of hands-on experience in manufacturing/industrial settings (relevant military experience counts) or equivalent education in areas such as: industrial electronics; motors and controls; electrical schematics and power; blueprint/print reading; computers and PLCs; AC/DC theory and power; instrumentation and test equipment; electrical maintenance; and commercial electrical construction/installation.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Comfort with rotating 8-hour shifts, including Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays.
- Availability for overtime when the operation needs it.
- Uncompromising safety habits, including wearing required PPE: hard hat, safety glasses, hearing protection, protective clothing, and metatarsal-protection boots.
- Track record of punctuality, dependable attendance, and self-directed work.
- Ability to pass required assessment test(s).
What’s expected from a U. S. Steel professional?
- Think: Think Critically and Drive Change
- Lead: Develop Talent and Collaborate
- Do: Empower Performance and Deliver Results
