Westmoreland Community Action (WCA) is a non-profit organization that works to connect individuals and families to opportunities and resources throughout the community to improve their quality of life and help to reduce poverty in the community. This is accomplished through housing, counseling, support, education, intervention, collaborations, partnerships, information, referrals, and networking.

Description & Responsibilities

WCA is seeking a seasonal Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Site Coordinator to implement the VITA action plan during this tax season to offer free assistance to low-to-moderate-income people who cannot prepare their own tax returns. The Site Coordinator will:

• Plan and organize site operation,
• Recruit and supervise volunteers,
• Promote the free VITA Program,
• Implement the Quality Site Requirements, and
• Ensure all IRS and Westmoreland Community Action guidelines are followed.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED. Training and/or certifications in accounting practices, financial literacy and or tax preparation preferred.
• IRS Basic, Intermediate and Advanced Certification.
• Knowledge and understanding of issues facing the low-income population and the programs available to promote self-sufficiency preferred.
• Ability to deal with volunteers, stakeholders, partners and the public in a helpful and supportive manner.
• Basic research skills, computer competency (i.e., MS Word and MS Excel)
• Ability to work flexible hours including some evenings and weekends.
• Possess or able to obtain Act 33 Child Abuse History Clearance and Act 34 PA State Police Criminal History Record Check Clearances.
• Must possess valid PA Driver's License and agency mandated car insurance.

VITA Site Coordinator rate depending on experience: $16.81 to 18.40 per hour.
