Restaurant Barista & Host

Enswell is hiring for someone to work a cross trained role of host & barista. Their schedule will be a blend host & barista shifts.

Enswell is an all-day restaurant with a full kitchen, cafe, comprehensive cocktail menu, and bottleshop. Owned and operated by Rival Bros Coffee Roasters, Enswell opened in 2023 in the space of a previous Rival Bros cafe on Spruce Street. The restaurant brings together many different passions and services under one roof; Enswell aims to be a place where one might have a phenomenal cup of coffee right next to another enjoying a craft cocktail or upscale meal.

BARISTA RESPONSIBILITIES

• Take and fulfill customer orders and requests by creating high quality beverages
• Have a clear understanding of all cafe items and a willingness to help customers understand the cafe menu and retail coffee selections
• Keep the coffee bar clean, presentable, and organized: this includes taking out trash, doing dishes and polishing glassware
• Work cohesively with front of house staff by: fulfilling service tickets, running food, bussing tables and assisting where needed

HOST RESPONSIBILITIES

• Greet and seat guests upon arrival and thank guests upon departure
• Control restaurant flow with an organized approach to seating tables, while utilizing the Toast. reservation platform
• Keep the inside foyer, entry, and bathrooms clean and organized
• Assist with bussing & resetting tables
• Answering the phone and directing calls as needed. Taking reservations over the phone
• Control music through selection of playlist and monitoring of songs and volume throughout the service

We are looking for candidates who can embody a guest-first mentality; they are committed to maintaining a positive atmosphere during periods of high volume.

Required Skills

• Ability to work independently in opening or closing the cafe section of the restaurant
• Ability to respond quickly to manager feedback
• Ability to tailor work flow to both busy and slow periods depending on time of day as well as other external factors

Ideal applicants:

• Have availability to work the busiest shifts including weekends & holidays
• Have experience pouring latte art
• Have experience in one or more of the following areas: customer service (retail or restaurant), specialty coffee, and/or hosting

Physical demands

• This position will require the employee to periodically lift, push, pull or carry items up to 50 lbs in weight (putting away deliveries of boxes, cold brew kegs, outdoor furniture)
• This position requires the employee to stand for extended periods of time
• This position will require the employee to periodically climb stairs, ramps or uneven surfaces

• Barista is a tipped position ($12/hr +tips), host is an hourly position ($18/hour)
