Job Description

The Assistant Academy Leader supports the Academy Leader in the overall administration of the school and provides leadership to staff and students. This role includes assisting in curriculum implementation, discipline, staff development, school safety, and fostering a positive school climate that promotes student success.

Job Responsibilities

Instructional Leadership

• Primary role is to assist teachers with classroom management skills development until they are able to demonstrate good management practices independently.
• Assist in implementing the school's instructional programs aligned with district and state standards.
• Support teachers through coaching, professional development, and classroom observations.
• Analyze student data to inform instructional decisions and monitor academic progress.
• Help lead school improvement planning efforts.
• Partner with Special Education Coordinator to oversee and support with specialized services in all school settings.

Academy Operations and Management

• Support the development and implementation of school schedules and routines.
• Assist with emergency preparedness and school safety protocols.
• Help manage school events, testing schedules, and extracurricular programs.
• Conducts daily teacher observations and provides real-time feedback to support the gains in student achievement, and teacher growth and development.
• Fosters commitment and positive culture among staff and the fulfillment of the academy's mission and objectives.

Family and Community Engagement

• Manage existing annual activities, events, and trips as well as develop new academy traditions that support the academy's mission.
• Fosters and encourages effective communication between school and families.
• Support parent engagement initiatives and school community partnerships.
• Represent the school at meetings and community events as needed.

Staff Support and Supervision

• Help evaluate the performance of teachers and support staff.
• Provide guidance and support to teachers and staff on school policies and procedures.
• Participate in onboarding and mentoring new staff.

Student Discipline and Welfare

• Assist in maintaining a safe and respectful school environment.
• Manage student discipline in accordance with school policies and behavioral frameworks (e.g., PBIS, MTSS).
• Collaborate with counselors, teachers, and parents on student behavior and social-emotional development.

Job Requirements

• Valid and current Pennsylvania Teacher Certification in Elementary Education
• 5 + leadership experience as a department chair, instructional coach, etc.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Minimum 5 years of successful teaching experience
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain confidentiality
• Ability to lead, support, and inspire staff and students
• Knowledge of instructional best practices and data-driven decision-making
• Current clearances (FBI, Child Abuse, Criminal, Mandated Reporter and TB Test)
• In the event that the need arises, you will need to be able to: lift, pull or push up to 15 lbs, walk a standard flight of stairs, or stand or sit for up to 45 minutes
