Med/Surg RN Job Details

• Location: Johnstown, PA 15905 (Pennsylvania nursing jobs)
• Facility: 22-bed Medical/Surgical Unit (9th Floor Ortho/Trauma/Surgical)
• Employment Type: Travel Nurse (Locum Tenens)
• Shift: 12-hour rotating shifts (days and nights; flexibility required)
• Hours per Week: 36
• Assignment Duration: 13 weeks (Start: 9/21/2025 – End: 12/21/2025)
• Weekend Requirement: 4 weekend days per schedule (every other/as needed)
• Float Requirement: Must be able to float to other units as needed
• Electronic Health Record: EPIC
• Estimated Weekly Salary Range: $1800-$1840

Med/Surg RN Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Pennsylvania
• BLS (Basic Life Support) and NIH Stroke certifications required
• Minimum 3 years of recent medical-surgical nursing experience
• Preferred experience in surgical, orthopedic, trauma, joint replacement, step-down, cardiac, or PCU settings
• Ability to float to various hospital units as needed
• Successful completion of background screenings (PA Child Abuse History Clearance, PA State Police Clearance, fingerprinting)
• Strong communication skills and adaptability in a fast-paced healthcare environment

Med/Surg RN Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality patient care to adult, geriatric, and pediatric populations
• Manage patient ratios of 5:1 to 6:1 in a busy medical-surgical unit
• Provide nursing care for trauma, surgical, orthopedic, and medical patients (including joint replacements, falls, urology, and post-op cases)
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to optimize patient outcomes
• Accurately document patient care and interventions using EPIC EHR
• Float to other hospital units as required to support clinical staffing needs
• Maintain compliance with hospital policies and dress code (scrub color: any; no casual attire)
