Job Title: Manager, Total Rewards focusing on Benefits

Job Summary : The Manager of Total Rewards will collaborate with the Director of Total Rewards, HR Systems and Analytics on developing the long-term vision and strategy of Wawa’s Total rewards programs. Lead Total Rewards team on the successful implementation and execution of all programs and initiatives. Oversee the operation, management and analysis of Wawa’s Total Rewards plans, focusing on Benefits and Wellbeing by ensuring the Company’s plans and programs enhance the organization’s ability to recruit and retain associates.
Principal Duties:
- Partner with the Director of Total Rewards, HR Systems and Analytics to define and drive the long-term plan and vision of the company’s Total Rewards programs; develop and maintain total rewards philosophy to ensure alignment with rapid growth
- Lead change management and communications of total rewards philosophy and practices with management and team members; develop strategies to drive associate awareness and understanding of offerings through creative communication.
- Lead all aspects of the annual open enrollment process inclusive of eligibility calculations, plan renewals, plan changes, system changes and communication to ensure coordination of all parties and associate engagement in the process.
- Lead annual strategic planning, in partnership with Finance, on company-wide rewards programs and budgets and develop appropriate measures of return on those programs.
- Prepare benefit and wellness program expense budgets for all company organizations and determine allocation of expense among departments/stores and track actual expense against budget and prepare analysis explaining any deviation from budget.
- Manage internal reporting of plan metrics, including monitoring of the self-funded claims experience, and benefit plan expenditures to identify trends and make recommendations to minimize plan and budget risks. Define, analyze and communicate success metrics for all benefit, wellness and absence programs.
- Drive the development and documentation of procedures to streamline processes and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Maximize use of Workday and other technologies to creatively and accurately provide associates with benefits information and data.
- Drive the completion of regular benchmarking activities to ensure the Company’s benefit, wellness and absence programs are competitive and appropriate given the environment and promote internal awareness of the competitiveness of our plans.
- Ensure plans are administered according to plan provisions and in compliance with Federal, State and local laws and regulations, including IRS, ERISA, HIPAA, COBRA, Affordable Healthcare Act, etc. Study existing and new legislation; obtain qualified opinions; enforce adherence to requirements; advise management on needed actions.
- Manage vendor relationships and external service providers by building strong relationships and overseeing vendor performance.
- Collaborate with HR team, Finance, Legal, and other internal customers groups to promote our plans internally, drive efficiency and cost control, plan, and communicate updates and changes to plans and programs.
- Drive Total Rewards projects, and implement, communicate and oversee programs in support of new initiatives or changes.
- Collaborate with management across the Company, in the planning, implementation and monitoring of all Total Rewards plans. Serve as internal consultant and apply subject matter expertise to develop benefits plans strategies, identify gaps, plan processes, make necessary improvements and propose solutions to corporate leadership.
- Oversee all aspects of daily work of the Total Rewards team members. Provide overall direction and support for direct report(s) and monitor and assess individual work in accordance with high standards of excellence. Provide feedback, coaching, support, opportunities for development, complete performance appraisals, take corrective action when appropriate, and participate in hiring decisions.

Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management, Business or health related field preferred or equivalent work experience
- HRCI certification preferred
- Minimum of five (5) years of health and welfare benefit plan strategic design, implementation, execution and evaluation of efficacy
- Minimum of three (3) years of wellbeing program strategy, design and execution experience
- Knowledge of administration of health, welfare and wellbeing programs
- Extensive knowledge of HR Systems including benefit administration with Workday experience preferred
- Benefit and wellness regulatory knowledge
- Experience with defined contribution plans
- Prior experience in successfully sourcing and managing multiple integrated external vendors
- Project management experience
- Minimum of 5 years supervisory experience
- Highly skilled in Microsoft Office suite applications
