Job Summary

As the Catering Sous Chef at Longwood Gardens, you will play a key role in delivering extraordinary culinary experiences within one of the most iconic cultural destinations in the country. This role blends creativity, precision, and leadership, supporting the Executive Chef in overseeing catering operations that serve everything from intimate gatherings to large-scale, high-profile events. You’ll be hands-on in the kitchen, supervising preparation and production, ensuring flawless execution, and helping shape menus that reflect both innovation and seasonality.

Key Responsibilities

• Partner with the Executive Chef to plan and develop menus for weddings, galas, corporate events, and special programs hosted at Longwood Gardens.

• Lead the execution of catering events, ensuring presentation, quality, and service exceed guest expectations.

• Supervise and train culinary staff, inspiring excellence in both technique and hospitality.

• Assist with ordering, inventory, and maintaining cost controls to align with operational budgets.

• Collaborate with the company’s marketing and culinary teams to roll out new programs and initiatives.

• Uphold the highest standards of food safety, sanitation, and kitchen organization.

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate’s Degree in Culinary Arts or equivalent professional experience.

• Progressive kitchen leadership experience in catering or high-volume foodservice.

• Proven track record with large-scale, complex events in luxury, fine dining, or institutional environments.

• Strong knowledge of catering trends, food presentation, and event-driven culinary operations.

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Outlook, and culinary management systems.

• ServSafe certification strongly preferred.

• Passion for hospitality, teamwork, and creating unforgettable guest experiences.
