Summer Student Workers
Limited Positions Available
Custodian (2 positions) and Technology Assistant (1 position)
Part Time or Full Time Mondays through Thursdays
Approximately June 8 through August 14
Work hours between 6am and 4pm depending on assignment.
PAY RATE: $13.00 per hour
QUALIFICATIONS: Age 16+ and currently enrolled in Brandywine Heights
REPORTS TO: Custodial Supervisor, Director of Buildings & Grounds, or IT Supervisor
SUPERVISES: None.
GOALS: To perform cleaning functions as needed in the buildings, assist with outdoor grounds maintenance, or or assist the Technology department with routine device maintenance as directed..
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Performs cleaning of designated buildings, furniture & equipment.
- Assists in maintaining grounds (lawn, debris, athletics).
- Moves equipment, furniture and supplies.
- Maintains buildings and grounds safety and security.
- Assist technology department with device maintenance (cleaning and removing labels from current devices, unpacking and labeling new devices).
Assumes other responsibilities as assigned.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Seasonal. Full/Part Time
Days and Hours Vary
Mid-June through Early-August 2026
Salary, work schedule and other conditions of employment in accordance with current LEA salary schedule and applicable policies.
Selected candidates will be asked to complete these New Hire/Pre-Employment Requirements:
- Act 151 PA Child Abuse Clearance
- Act 34 PA Criminal Record Check
- Act 114 Federal Criminal History Record Information (CHRI) Clearance (FBI Fingerprinting) for PA School Districts (Service Code 1KG6XN)
- PA School Personnel Health Record/Physical
- Evidence of a Negative Tuberculosis Test
- Work Permit for students 16-18 years old
- Pre-Employment Drug Screen (paperwork issued by BHASD)
POSITION SPECIFICATIONS:
Physical Demands
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, climbing, and reaching
- Standing for extended periods of time.
- Repetitive movement of arms and hands.
- Ability to walk.
- Squatting, stooping, kneeling, and twisting.
- Ability to climb ladders and steps.
- On feet for extended periods of time.
- Push/pull furniture, machines, and bleachers
- Occasional lifting and carrying up to 50pounds.
- Occasional work in extreme weather conditions.
Sensory Abilities
- Visual acuity to read correspondence labels.
- Auditory acuity to be able to use telephone,
- Ability to speak clearly and distinctly.
Work Environment
- Work area may be any interior or exterior location.
- May work with toxic or caustic chemicals
- Moderate noise levels.
Temperament
- Must be courteous and able to effectively communicate with people.
- Ability to not be provoked by occasional exposure to individuals making inappropriate physical or verbal jesters.
- Ability to work as a member of a team.
- Must be cooperative, congenial, and service-oriented, and promote these qualities in the department.
- Ability to work in an environment with frequent interruptions.
Cognitive Ability
- Ability to complete assigned tasks with minimal supervision.
- Ability to work independently and make work-related decisions.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Ability to exercise common sense and good judgement in prioritizing tasks, and dealing with coworkers, students, and the public.
