Executive Director
Description
Executive Director
If you believe in the power of compassion, advocacy, and community to change lives, you’ll feel right at home here. At Crime Victims Council of the Lehigh Valley (CVC), we meet people at some of the most difficult moments of their lives—and walk with them toward safety, healing, and hope. We’re looking for an Executive Director who leads with heart, clarity, and purpose. Someone who values people just as much as outcomes, and who’s energized by the responsibility of guiding a trusted, mission-driven nonprofit into its next chapter.
If you are ready to play a defining role in shaping the future of services for crime victims in the Lehigh Valley, CVC would love to hear from you!
What You’ll Do
As Executive Director, you’ll be the strategic and cultural anchor of CVC—keeping our mission front and center: to empower and support victims of crime through confidential, cost-free services, while advocating for their rights and fostering community outreach. With compassion, collaboration, integrity, and a commitment to high-quality service, we strive to make a positive and lasting impact on the lives of individuals and our community.
In this role, you’ll have the opportunity to:
- Lead with purpose, shaping organizational strategy, strengthening our programs, and expanding our reach across Lehigh and Northampton counties
- Provide overall direction and oversight of CVC policies, operations, and programs.
- Ensure compliance with all legal, contractual, and ethical standards.
- Lead strategic planning in collaboration with the Board of Directors and leadership team to guide long-term organizational growth and impact.
- Monitor and evaluate programs for effectiveness, impact, and compliance with funder requirements.
- Cultivate a supportive, mission-aligned culture, empowering a passionate team and ensuring they have the resources and clarity they need to do their best work.
- Build partnerships that matter, being the public face of CVC, serving on different coalitions & committees, collaborating with community organizations, funders, government agencies, and local leaders to elevate awareness of victim services and prevention efforts.
- Communicating transparently with staff, the Board, stakeholders, and the community.
- Advocate for victims’ rights and services within systems such as criminal justice, healthcare, law enforcement, and social services.
- Steward financial health & compliance, overseeing budgets, ensuring accurate financial reporting, securing grant funding, and long-term sustainability so our services remain free, confidential, and accessible.
- Ensuring timely submission of grants and contracts
- Researching, writing, and securing new grant funding to expand resources and services.
- Engaging in fundraising efforts in conjunction with the Board of Directors Development Committee.
- Champion innovation, identifying new opportunities to strengthen support for survivors and expand prevention education in schools, workplaces, and neighborhoods.
Everything you do will support one central purpose: ensuring survivors of violence receive the nonjudgmental, trauma-informed care they deserve.
What We’re Looking ForThis role is ideal for someone who blends strategic thinking with deep empathy—someone who’s as comfortable guiding long-term vision as they are listening closely to a team member or community partner. What matters most is your commitment to learning, growing, and serving with intention. Desired qualifications include:
- Leadership experience: 4+ years in senior management within a nonprofit or human‑services organization.
- Strong operational and strategic skills: Experience in strategic planning, policy implementation, people management, and program development.
- Financial and grants management proficiency: Skilled in budgeting, financial oversight, and grant/contract compliance, along with grant writing.
- Victim‑services understanding and experience: Proven ability to provide and oversee effective, compassionate services for victims of crime.
- Communication & collaboration: Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, with strong relationship‑building abilities.
- Values‑driven leadership: Cultural humility, commitment to DEI, compassion for those impacted by violence.
- Completion of Sexual Assault Counselor Training preferred.
- Must successfully obtain and maintain the following clearances: FBI Criminal Background Check, Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Record Check, and Child Abuse History Clearance.
