Artificial Intelligence Security Lead - remote
Job Details:
The Lead, AI Security is a senior individual contributor responsible for building and operationalizing security controls that support the organization’s adoption of artificial intelligence technologies. This role blends technical depth with cross-functional influence, ensuring AI systems are deployed securely, responsibly, and in alignment with enterprise risk standards.
This is not a pure strategy position — it requires hands-on engagement in architecture reviews, risk assessments, investigations, and control design. The role partners closely with engineering, risk, legal, and security operations teams to embed AI-specific safeguards into existing security frameworks.
AI Security Implementation
Design and implement security controls across the AI/ML lifecycle, including development, deployment, and monitoring phases.
Conduct detailed security reviews of AI use cases, focusing on data protection, model integrity, system integration, and third-party dependencies.
Perform threat modeling and risk assessments for AI-enabled systems.
Evaluate tooling and technical solutions that strengthen AI system visibility and protection.
Governance & Risk Integration
Integrate AI-specific requirements into enterprise security standards, change management processes, and vendor risk workflows.
Partner with compliance and risk teams to align AI practices with regulatory expectations in a regulated industry environment.
Contribute to the development of internal standards, guidance documents, and control documentation related to AI security.
Establish practical metrics to measure AI risk exposure and control effectiveness.
Operational Security & Incident Support
Collaborate with cyber defense teams to enhance detection and response capabilities for AI-related threats.
Participate in investigations involving AI systems, data pipelines, or advanced analytics platforms.
Support red team exercises and adversarial testing relevant to AI implementations.
Advisory & Cross-Functional Collaboration
Serve as a subject matter expert on AI security for technology and business stakeholders.
Provide structured guidance on balancing innovation velocity with risk management discipline.
Translate complex AI security concepts into actionable recommendations for diverse audiences.
Qualifications
Experience
5+ years of experience in cybersecurity, information security engineering, technology risk, or related disciplines.
At least 2 years working directly with AI/ML systems, data platforms, or emerging technology risk.
Experience conducting security architecture reviews and technical risk assessments.
Background operating within regulated or compliance-driven environments preferred.
Technical & Professional Skills
Strong understanding of AI/ML lifecycle risks, including data governance, model security, and third-party AI services.
Familiarity with AI governance and cybersecurity risk frameworks.
Proficiency in standard security monitoring, investigative processes, and incident response concepts.
Analytical mindset with the ability to challenge assumptions and evaluate emerging technologies critically.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Self-directed, organized, and capable of managing multiple concurrent initiatives.
Preferred
Exposure to adversarial ML testing, red teaming, or securing data science environments.
Awareness of evolving AI regulatory and security trends.
