We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our team located in the Greater Philadelphia Region. This role offers an exciting opportunity within the non-profit sector and is designed as a contract to long-term position. The ideal Staff Accountant candidate will be responsible for managing financial processes, ensuring compliance, and supporting organizational budgeting efforts.
What you get to do every single day:
• Enter accounts payable data accurately, ensuring invoices and payments align with fiscal periods and grant funding guidelines.
• Process accounts receivable efficiently, verifying timely submissions of employee reports and payments from contributing employers.
• Oversee organizational and program budgets, monitoring expenditures to ensure alignment with projected figures.
• Provide budget versus actual spending reports to program leaders upon request to support informed decision-making.
• Assist in developing budget proposals for new and existing programs, conducting cost analyses and obtaining quotes from vendors.
• Ensure tax-exempt compliance by coordinating vendor records, applying exemptions, and securing non-profit pricing.
• Enhance financial record-keeping systems, identifying inefficiencies and implementing improved processes.
• Lead efforts to identify and mitigate financial risks, ensuring the organization's sustainability.
Other requirements for the Staff Accountant position include and are not limited to:
• Demonstrated experience with corporate tax processes, including tax returns and compliance.
• Strong knowledge of sales tax regulations and applications.
• Proficiency in preparing and reviewing journal entries.
• Solid understanding of general ledger management and reconciliation.
• Attention to detail and ability to ensure accuracy in financial data.
• Familiarity with budgeting and cost analysis processes.
• Experience with vendor management and securing quotes.
• Background in financial risk assessment and mitigation strategies.
