Community Schools AmeriCorps VISTA
AmeriCorps VISTA is a national service volunteer program dedicated to strengthening communities and alleviating poverty through capacity-building service. Members commit to a full-time year of service while gaining professional experience in nonprofit leadership, education, systems building, and community engagement. The United Way of the Greater Lehigh Valley (UWGLV) AmeriCorps VISTA program supports population-level goals across the region in the areas of education, healthy aging, and community stability.
The information below covers the role requirements, expected candidate experience, and accompanying qualifications.The Community Schools Implementation AmeriCorps VISTAs will support the Lehigh Valley Community Schools Network by developing and refining tools, systems, and resources that strengthen implementation of the United Way Community School model. The VISTAs will support onboarding and planning for Community School Coordinators and Principals, assist with the development of “Year at a Glance” learning modules and digital training resources, and provide coordination support through Core Team and Ad Hoc Committee meetings.
The VISTAs will also research best practices related to Community School implementation, parent engagement, and student success initiatives, helping translate findings into actionable strategies that support planning and continuous improvement. In addition, the VISTAs will assist with refining procedural guides, documentation practices, and internal systems that promote consistency, communication, and long-term sustainability across Community Schools programming. xrczosw
AmeriCorps VISTA members receive a living allowance, health coverage, training, relocation support (if eligible), childcare assistance (if eligible), and either an End-of-Service Stipend or Segal Education Award upon successful completion of service.
