Position Overview
We are seeking Level I Radiography Assistants / RT Trainees to support certified Level II Technicians in performing Radiographic Testing (RT) inspections.
This is an entry-level opportunity for individuals interested in building a career in Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) . The position provides hands-on exposure to radiographic inspection techniques, X-ray equipment, radiation safety, field operations, and industrial inspection practices.
Candidates should be comfortable working in industrial and outdoor environments, traveling frequently, and learning under the direction of experienced NDT technicians.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist certified Level II Technicians with radiographic testing and inspection activities.
- Support the setup, operation, and breakdown of X-ray and radiographic inspection equipment.
- Assist with X-ray truck operations and preparation for field inspections.
- Establish and maintain controlled work areas in accordance with applicable radiation safety procedures.
- Follow established radiation safety practices and instructions from certified personnel.
- Handle tools, equipment, materials, and film or digital imaging equipment as directed.
- Assist with basic inspection documentation, data collection, and reporting.
- Properly store, maintain, and transport inspection equipment.
- Travel to regional and national customer and project sites as required.
- Follow all applicable company, customer, and regulatory safety procedures.
- Maintain a professional and safety-focused approach while working at customer facilities and industrial job sites.
Qualifications
Required
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- No extensive NDT experience required.
- Strong interest in developing a career in Non-Destructive Testing and Radiographic Testing.
- Ability to follow instructions and work effectively under the supervision of certified technicians.
- Strong commitment to workplace and radiation safety.
- Reliable with a strong work ethic and willingness to learn.
- Basic verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work outdoors and in physically demanding industrial environments.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and perform lifting and other physical activities associated with field inspection work.
- Willingness to work flexible schedules based on project requirements.
- Willingness and ability to travel frequently .
- Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
- Ability to successfully complete applicable company, customer, and regulatory safety requirements.
Preferred Experience & Training
Previous NDT experience is not required , but any of the following would be beneficial:
- Previous or current Radiation Safety (RAD Safety) training .
- State Radiography Trainee Card or ability to obtain one.
- Previous exposure to Radiographic Testing (RT) or other NDT methods.
- Experience in oil & gas, pipelines, construction, manufacturing, refineries, power generation, or other industrial environments.
- Basic mechanical aptitude.
- Experience working with hand tools, equipment, or machinery.
- Familiarity with industrial safety procedures.
- Interest in pursuing ASNT Level I and eventually Level II qualifications/certifications .

Work Environment
This is a field-based industrial position requiring frequent travel to customer and project locations. Work may be performed outdoors and at oil & gas, pipeline, manufacturing, construction, refinery, power, and other industrial facilities.
Candidates should be prepared for varying weather conditions, physically demanding work, flexible schedules, and travel based on customer and project requirements.
