Post-doctoral fellow
A postdoctoral fellow position is immediately available in the NIH-funded Neuro-Immuno-Oncology Research Group within the Department of Neurosurgery, Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania. Our laboratory seeks highly motivated, talented, and passionate scientists to join our effort to unravel how the brain tumor immune microenvironment shapes tumorigenesis and therapeutic response.
Two exciting, cutting-edge projects are available:
- Project 1: Investigate the role of microglia in glioblastoma using patient samples, iPSC-derived microglia, tumor organoids, next-generation humanized mouse models, and genetically engineered GBM models.
- Project 2: Develop hyper-hypermutant GBM mouse models and integrate them with patient-derived samples to study responses to emerging immunotherapies, including CAR-T cell therapies.
Qualifications:
Applicants must hold an MD, PhD, or MD-PhD. A strong background in immunology, neuroscience, and/or cancer biology is essential. Prior experience with iPSCs, genetics/genomics, or mouse cancer models is highly desirable but not required. The ideal candidate will demonstrate scientific curiosity, excellent communication and organizational skills, critical thinking ability, and a collaborative mindset.
At least one first-author, peer-reviewed publication from PhD work is required.
Postdoctoral fellows will work in a highly collaborative environment and have the opportunity to interact closely with investigators and clinicians across the Penn Brain Tumor Center, as well as the Cancer Biology Department and Immunology Institute.
