Job Description
The CNC Operator performs daily inspections and pre-startup preventive maintenance. The role involves reading drawings, manuals, and specifications to determine the dimensions and tolerances of finished workpieces, as well as the sequence of operations and setup requirements. The operator starts and operates hydraulic and mechanical presses, loading and unloading machines efficiently and productively. They must be open to frequent supervision and assistance regarding machine setup. Consistent attendance, adherence to instructions, and safety procedures are crucial.
Responsibilities
- Perform daily inspection and pre-startup preventive maintenance.
- Read drawings, manuals, and specifications to determine workpiece dimensions and setup requirements.
- Start and operate hydraulic and mechanical presses.
- Load and unload machines efficiently.
- Accept supervision and assistance for machine setup.
- Maintain consistent attendance and follow management directions.
- Observe safety and security procedures, using equipment and materials properly.
- Keep tools, dies, and machine controls in good working condition, reporting any issues to the press supervisor.
- Ensure paperwork is filled out completely and accurately.
- Clean up the working area and surroundings.
Essential Skills
- Ability to use simple measuring tools such as calipers, measuring tape, and scales.
- Basic math skills, including the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using American weight, volume, and distance units.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
- Mechanical inclination and industrial experience.
Work Environment
The role is based in a manufacturing facility with a total of 60 employees. The dress code requires long pants (jeans or dickies) and steel-toe shoes. The job involves significant walking, bending, and standing, with the ability to lift up to 45 pounds. Employees must use their hands and reach with their arms frequently, and the role often requires talking or hearing. Occasionally, sitting, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, bending, crouching, or crawling is required. Specific vision abilities such as close vision, distance vision, color vision, and depth perception are essential. The work environment is subject to external weather conditions, and employees may be exposed to moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the workplace is usually loud.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Hazleton, PA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $18.00 - $22.00/hr.
