Job Summary
This role combines Agile leadership with hands-on software development. The position leads the Agile journey for a high-impact development squad while remaining an active contributor to the codebase. Approximately 80% of the role focuses on Scrum facilitation, team coaching, and delivery excellence, with the remaining time dedicated to building and maintaining robust back-end solutions using Java and modern frameworks.
Job Description
- Facilitate all Scrum ceremonies, including Daily Stand-ups, Sprint Planning, Sprint Reviews, and Retrospectives
- Proactively identify, manage, and remove technical and process-related impediments to maintain team velocity
- Partner with the Product Owner to refine and prioritize the backlog and track team performance using Agile metrics such as velocity, cycle time, and burndown charts
- Coach the team on self-organization, continuous improvement, and modern Agile and DevOps practices
- Manage all phases of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), including requirements gathering, analysis, design, development, testing, deployment, and ongoing maintenance
- Implement and optimize delivery methodologies including Agile (Scrum/Kanban), Waterfall, and DevOps as appropriate
- Oversee quality assurance strategies, including unit testing, integration testing, and user acceptance testing (UAT)
- Support and streamline continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines using tools such as GitHub, GitLab, or Jenkins
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable back-end services using Java (17/21+) and Spring Boot
- Lead by example through Test-Driven Development (TDD), peer code reviews, and adherence to a strong “Definition of Done”
- Support and enhance CI/CD pipelines to enable frequent, high-quality releases
- Participate in architectural discussions to ensure technical feasibility and alignment with long-term product goals
Job Skills Required
- Certified Scrum Master (CSM) or Professional Scrum Master (PSM I or II) certification (required)
- Minimum of 5 years of professional software development experience, including at least 3 years in a Scrum Master or Lead Developer role
- Strong expertise in Java, Spring Framework/Spring Boot, Hibernate/JPA, and microservices architecture
- Proficient in Agile tooling, including Jira and Confluence
- Hands-on experience with Git, Maven or Gradle, and containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes
- Solid understanding of CI/CD concepts and practices
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience beyond degree requirements
Pay Rate
- $68 - $75.70 per hour (Compensation will be offered within this posted range based on experience, skills, and market factors)
Additional Requirements
- Experience with front-end frameworks such as React or Angular
- Experience with cloud platforms including AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform
- Familiarity with Scaled Agile Frameworks (SAFe) or Kanban
- Strong conflict resolution, facilitation, and active listening skills
- Ability to foster a culture of collaboration, psychological safety, and continuous improvement
