WE ARE LOOKING FOR MONITORS FOR SUPERVISED CUSTODY CASES
Families experience difficult times in their lives and the court may order supervision to ensure that both parents can continue to be involved in their child’s life in a safe and healthy environment. The ideal monitor enjoys working with children and their families and understands that this is a challenging time for the family. The ideal monitor has had experience working with children or is interested in gaining valuable experience working with this population.
Additionally, the monitor is looking for the personal satisfaction in helping families rebuild their lives together.
Description:
The assigned monitor is responsible for providing a safe, secure environment, physically and emotionally, for children in alternate care by supervising visits with their parent.
Responsibilities:
· To supervise visits of non-custodial parents with their child(ren) pursuant to a Court Order.
This includes monitoring and, if necessary, intervening with the parent or child who
demonstrated inappropriate physical or verbal behaviors.
· To report as soon as possible any problems or concerns regarding the visit to the Program Coordinator
· To work with the Program Coordinator as a team member to best meet the needs of the client.
· To treat clients with respect and dignity.
· To perform only those supervised visit requests authorized by the Program Director.
· To be prompt in keeping appointments and adhering to agreed-upon schedules.
· To abide by the Agency’s Rules of Confidentiality.
· To record time and observation notes provided by the agency for each supervised visit and to turn in these forms in a timely matter
· To inform the Program Director of vacations, illness etc. that would necessitate a substitute
supervisor, with as much advance notice as possible. The agency prefers at least one week advanced notice.
· To respect the West Chester Child Access Center rules regarding supervised visit procedures.
-Must be able to drive to Philadelphia and Delaware
Qualifications:
· It is preferred that the monitor have a Bachelors Degree in Psychology, Social Work, Child Development, or Counselor Education.
· The monitor should be dependable, flexible and patient.
· The monitor should be sensitive to the needs of the families. The volunteer must enjoy
· The monitor should be capable of handling emergencies if necessary.
· The monitor must have their child abuse and FBI clearances on record with the agency, these clearances may be obtained after taking the position.
The agency will provide training to the monitor.
Time Commitments:
The agency needs a commitment of at least 8-10 hours every other week. You must be available to work every other weekend for at least 3-8 hours.
Reimbursement:
This is a paid position. The monitor is not to accept pay or gifts for their services from the client or their representatives.
