Safety, Health & Environment (SHE) Manager
Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Safety, Health & Environment (SHE) Manager to lead environmental, health, and safety initiatives for a manufacturing facility. This role is responsible for developing, implementing, and continuously improving programs that ensure regulatory compliance, minimize risk, and promote a culture of safety throughout the organization.
As a member of the plant leadership team, the SHE Manager partners with Operations, Engineering, Maintenance, Human Resources, and other cross-functional teams to drive safety performance, environmental stewardship, and continuous improvement. The ideal candidate is a proactive leader with strong technical expertise, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to fostering a safe, compliant, and collaborative workplace.
Location: Philadelphia, PA
Salary Range: $120,000-$140,000 annually, plus eligibility to earn discretionary bonus

Key Responsibilities
Develop, implement, and maintain site-wide environmental, health, and safety management systems.
Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local environmental, health, and safety regulations, as well as company policies and standards.
Lead incident reporting, investigations, root cause analyses, corrective actions, and case management activities.
Conduct safety audits, inspections, risk assessments, and compliance reviews to identify hazards and support continuous improvement.
Develop and maintain emergency response plans and coordinate emergency preparedness activities.
Partner with Operations, Engineering, and Maintenance teams to improve workplace safety and reduce operational risk.
Design and deliver safety training programs for employees, contractors, and visitors.
Monitor environmental, health, and safety performance using key performance indicators (KPIs), scorecards, and reporting metrics.
Lead initiatives that strengthen the organization’s safety culture through employee engagement, coaching, communication, and behavior-based safety programs.
Develop policies, procedures, and programs that enhance regulatory compliance and operational performance.
Support sustainability initiatives and environmental compliance related to air, water, waste, hazardous materials, and other environmental programs.
Manage departmental budgets, resources, and external contractors, as needed.
Stay current on regulatory changes and industry best practices to support ongoing compliance and organizational readiness.
Qualifications
Required
Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, Public Health, or a related technical field.
Seven or more years of environmental, health, and safety experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and environmental compliance requirements.
Experience developing and implementing environmental, health, and safety management systems, policies, and procedures.
Demonstrated success leading incident investigations, root cause analyses, corrective actions, and risk reduction initiatives.
Experience developing and delivering employee safety training programs.
Strong project management, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and standard business applications.
Preferred
Certified Safety Professional (CSP) certification or another recognized safety certification.
Experience with ISO 14001, ISO 45001, or similar environmental and occupational health and safety management systems.
Internal Auditor or Lead Auditor certification.
Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, or Total Productive Maintenance (TPM).
Experience managing environmental, health, and safety programs in highly regulated manufacturing environments.
