Position Overview

12th Street Catering is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Bakery Team Member to support our growing pastry and bakery operations. This role is hands-on and production-focused, supporting both catered events and special orders. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced kitchen environment, takes pride in consistency and presentation, and works well as part of a collaborative culinary team.

Key Responsibilities

Bakery & Pastry Production

• Prepare, bake, and finish a variety of baked goods including cakes, cookies, breads, pastries, and specialty desserts
• Execute production based on standardized recipes and daily prep schedules
• Assist with custom desserts and specialty items for catered events

Catering Prep & Packaging

• Portion, label, and package baked goods for delivery and off-site events
• Organize products for transport, ensuring freshness, accuracy, and presentation
• Communicate with catering and kitchen teams regarding order details and special requests

Kitchen Operations & Sanitation

• Maintain a clean, organized, and food-safe bakery and prep environment
• Follow all food safety, storage, and sanitation standards
• Assist with inventory awareness and communicate shortages to leadership

Team Support

• Work collaboratively with chefs, bakers, and kitchen staff
• Support general kitchen needs including dishwashing, cleanup, and restocking
• Maintain a positive, professional attitude in a team-oriented environment

Qualifications

• 1+ year of experience in a commercial bakery, pastry kitchen, or catering environment preferred
• Working knowledge of basic baking techniques and kitchen equipment
• Ability to work early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
• Strong time management and organizational skills
• Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs
• Food Handler’s Certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire)

Preferred Experience

• High-volume or large-batch baking experience
• Exposure to gluten-free, vegan, or allergen-conscious baking
• Familiarity with catering-style packaging and presentation standards
