Assistant Director

ASSISTANT DIRECTOR (anticipated) – BETHLEHEM AREA VOCATIONAL-TECHNICAL SCHOOL:

12 month position. Must possess (3) years minimum successful administration in a high school setting, and (5) years minimum successful teaching in a classroom setting. Able to provide educational leadership, supervision, and evaluation for the faculty, staff & students. Salary regionally competitive based upon qualifications & experience. Position part of the Act 93 benefit package. This position includes, but not limited to the following essential job functions:

· Observation & evaluation of faculty & staff, as assigned.

· Ensure the CTE programs meet the standards established by PDE.

· Work with the Exec Director to create the master instructional schedule & calendar.

· Coordinates professional development for instructional staff.

· Work with the Exec Director to update & revise building-level policies & procedures.

· Coordinate a structured orientation program for incoming instructors.

· Support/assist the Dean of Students in the implantation of the Student Code of Conduct.

· Work with the Exec Director on the Annual Report.

· Assure grading & task management is appropriately managed by the instructors.

· Update & standardize curriculum guides in all secondary programs to keep current with industry standards.

· Assist staff with the selection of curricular & instructional texts/resources that are aligned to industry & academic standards.

· Work with the Exec Director & instructors in planning & submitting budgetary requests.

· Work with the Exec Director in long-range planning relative to curriculum & instruction.

· Assist with the faculty & other committee meeting agendas.

· Assist in the revision & update of the Student Handbook.

· Assist with the planning & implantation of the Substitute Teacher Orientation

· Assist the Administrative team with the school events calendar.

· Represent BAVTS at conferences & workshops approved by the Exec Director.

· Assist in determining strategies & procedures that support the overall safety & security of the building organization, including all staff & student body.

· Address any recommendations & corrections documented by the PDE Program Approval Team.

· Participates in interviewing candidates for instructional & support positions
