Description:

The Senior Housing Counselor duties entail providing direct

engagement and housing counseling services to clients of Norris Square Community Alliance with housing

issues, such as first-time homebuyers, in mortgage payments default, tenants counseling, energy payment

plans, gas payment plans, water payment plans, tax delinquency, home repair programs or other housing

problems.

Maintain client confidentiality and records on locked cabinets when not in use.

2. Accurate and timely preparation of reports for invoice purposes

3. Maintain working area clean, uncluttered, and ready for counseling activities.

4. Collaborate in developing and help enforce an annual work plan for the group and a

personal work plan.

5. Collaborate in developing and help enforce policies and procedures for the housing

department.

6. Train new housing counselors and provide support.

7. Supervise Intake Specialist

8. Provide guidance on what this person needs to achieve.

9. Suggest any training this person may need.

10. Perform and support evaluation cycle for this employee, including yearly goals.

11. Develop and maintain an annual program planning process.

Qualifications:

15. Must possess HUD certification.

16. High School Diploma required

17. Three years’ experience working with social services organization, other related field or

college education equivalent.

18. Must be computer literate, able to access email, electronic calendars and the internet,

experience with a variety of software applications including Microsoft Office.

19. Must be able to master Rx Office software used to enter and update client information

and provide reports.

20. Efficient data entry skills a must

21. Proven ability to deal with people with empathy and concern in high stress situations.

22. Team Player and self-starter with ability to prioritize tasks.

23. Excellent oral and written communication skills

24. Demonstrated experience working with culturally diverse groups of people.

25. General knowledge of real estate, underwriting policies, mortgages, foreclosure and

household budgeting and loan closing as it pertains to housing counseling is desired.

26. Must be certified in various housing counseling designations. DHCD Diversion Court

Certified preferred.

27. Familiarity with social service networks in Philadelphia a plus.

28. Bilingual Spanish/English required
