Essent ial Job Functions :

  • Customarily and regularly trains and directs the work of at least two or more other full-time employees or their equivalent to ensure their assigned duties are done correctly, efficiently, and responsibly
  • Makes suggestions and recommendations as to the hiring, firing, advancement, promotion or any other change of status of assigned employees
  • Trains and supervises assigned personnel, prepares work schedules, assigns work and oversees the work produced
  • Maintain a good working relation with co-workers and outside companies that work with the Zook Molasses or represent our company
  • Order materials and supplies required for the department
  • Monitor inventories to ensure adequacy of supply
  • Ultimately responsible for orders and/or product being processed correctly and on time
  • Communicates with the Plant Manager regarding department operations status on a regular basis
  • Completes any paperwork / production reports in a timely manner and forwards to appropriate individual
  • Measures and reports the effectiveness of department activities
  • Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production demands as dictated by production schedules and workflow.
  • Interprets company policies to workers and enforces safety regulations
  • Recommends measures to improve quality of service, increasing efficiency of department and work crew and equipment performance
  • Continuously improves production operations through the use of lean enterprise practices
  • Confers with other supervisors to coordinate activities of individual departments and serving internal customers
  • Responsible for maintaining quality, authentic, safe, and legal products.
  • Any other duties as requested directed or assigned by the manager

Supervisor Responsibilities:

  • Manages and directs assigned personnel. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the company’s policies and applicable laws
  • Responsibilities include safety, participating in interviewing and hiring; training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance and providing continual feedback on both positive and negative performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems and maintaining accurate attendance records
  • Demonstrates commitment to company values
  • Fosters a cooperative work environment

Job Requirements:

Education and Experience (Licenses and Certifications):

  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • Minimum 2 years supervisory of experience preferably in a manufacturing environment
  • Valid driver’s license and the ability to travel to other company locations
  • Six Sigma/Lean Manufacturing experience a plus

Equipment to Be Used:

  • Any equipment associated with assigned department

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to work well with ever changing priorities and or situations
  • Ability to plan and think ahead over a 3 month to 1-year time span
  • Computer proficient
  • Ability to measure performance to company goals and standards and establish targets for improvements in safety, quality cost, delivery and employee relations
  • Ability to understand and interpret a variety of instructions in written, oral, diagram or schedule form as they pertain to production
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from co-workers and customers
  • Ability to work under stress with interruptions and deadlines
  • Ability to think logically in following procedures and instructions
  • Any additional specialized safety or other training required

Essential Physical Demands:

  • Prolonged periods standing and walking, using tools and performing repetitive actions
  • Must be able to lift up to 50lbs with help
  • Visual acuity to read instructions and operate machines

Working Hours:

  • Standard workday Monday through Friday and as necessary to complete the requirements of the position
  • Overtime may be required, and hours are subject to change based on company needs
