Cleo Bagels is a West Philadelphia based bagel shop serving up handmade, malt-boiled and hearth-baked bagels, along with ~mostly~ traditional bialys, sandwiches, sweet treats, and more — not to mention excellent coffee, tea, refreshments, and other bagel-adjacent goods.

As Front of House Lead , you'll set the tone for every customer who walks through our doors and every teammate on your shift. You'll model great hospitality, keep service running smoothly, and make sure the FOH team has what they need to do their best work.

What You'll Do

• Lead by example, modeling the service you want the whole team to deliver
• Greet every customer warmly and make sure their first impression is a great one
• Give attentive, prompt service — answer questions, make recommendations, get orders right
• Keep the dining and service area clean, organized, and ready to go
• Resolve complaints or issues so customers leave satisfied

• Support FOH staff throughout each shift
• Train new team members on service, food handling, register procedures, and daily workflow
• Delegate effectively and reinforce best practices through clear, ongoing feedback
• Keep the shift running as a collaborative, respectful environment

• Run Square POS confidently — process refunds, troubleshoot basic issues
• Handle cash and card transactions accurately; work with management to reconcile registers and complete financial reports
• Help with inventory management, supply ordering, and stock replenishment
• Coordinate with the kitchen to keep orders accurate and on time
• Monitor food presentation, temperature, and health & safety compliance

• Run daily opening and closing procedures so the shop is ready or properly secured
• Inspect and maintain cleanliness across the dining area, coffee station, retail area, and restroom
• Follow all health and safety protocols
• Prepare hot and iced beverages to spec, and keep housemade and merchandised products properly rotated and handled

• Serve as the go-to point of contact for FOH staff during shifts, and the bridge to management on personnel or service issues
• Partner with management to continually improve the FOH experience for staff and customers
• Join management for interviews with FOH candidates, and for 30-day, 90-day, annual, and as-needed staff check-ins
• Help build the schedule, coordinate shift coverage, communicate changes, and hold the team accountable for punctuality and attendance

Qualifications

• Meaningful Front of House or leadership experience is required;
• Seeking a candidate with excellent time management;
• An ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously;
• Full Time availability is a requirement;
• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining cleanliness and hygiene standards;
• Physical ability to stand for extended periods and lift heavy items as needed.

• Pooled Tips: tips are 'pooled' on a biweekly schedule and paid out through payroll based on total hours worked, not on which days earned which tips. After tips, wages typically range from $20-$22/hr depending.
