Job Description

The Med Surg Float Pool nurse provides comprehensive patient care across multiple medical-surgical units, adapting quickly to varying patient populations and unit workflows. Nurses are expected to function independently, demonstrate strong clinical judgment, and uphold all hospital policies and safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Provide care across all inpatient Medical-Surgical units, including step down units and ED for med surg holds.
• Participate in a short 2-3 hour orientation at Women and Families post initial training.
• Comply with all hospital policies including attendance, documentation standards, and medication safety protocols.
• Maintain nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:4 on standard Med Surg units, adjusting as needed based on unit acuity and staffing.
• Function comfortably while floating between multiple units and patient populations.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Minimum 2 years of Med Surg experience required.
• Must have BLS, ACLS, and NIHHS certifications.
• Strong proficiency in EPIC required.
• Must comply with all hospital safety standards.
