Production Operator II

As a Production Operator at PPG’s Monroeville Research & Development, you will be a crucial part of our Specialty Synthesis Group (SSG) operations responsible for process development and manufacturing of photochromic dyes, OLED (Organic Light Emitting Diode) materials and optical coatings, ensuring that a quality product is available to our customers when they need them. Your work will directly affect people's lives!

Location- Monroeville, PA

Rotating Shift: Work Schedule: 1st shift, Mon-Fri. (6:00 am – 2:00 pm) and 2nd shift, Mon-Thur. (2:00 pm – 12:00 am) Shift differential for 2nd shift. Shift Rotates every week.

Pay Rate: $47,150 annually, non-exempt + OT. Depending on skill(s) and experience higher rate of pay may be considered.

Key Responsibilities

• Multi-step organic reactions in a plant environment (50 L to 400 L scale).

• Running reactions/purifications according to batch sheet.

• Modify batch sheets and other procedures as needed.

• Collaborate effectively with variety of people with minimal supervision.

• The position involves blending, measuring, and producing raw materials to manufacture industrial coatings.

• You will work in a production environment with a high level of safety awareness and adhere to all appropriate safety procedures in place.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.

• Production and scale experience in a similar plant or laboratory environment.

• Chemical and manufacturing experience preferred.

• Exposure to some inorganic and organic college chemistry lab experience preferred.

• Mechanical aptitude and high level of safety awareness.

• Attention to detail and documentation skills and excellent organizational and communication skills.

• Strong problem solving, initiative, and knowledge of PC applications.

• Interpersonal skills, interact with all levels of organization, and able to work in a team environment.

• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on a consistent basis throughout the day.

• Must be able to stand, bend, crouch, kneel throughout the day, use basic tools, operate a Forklift or ability to learn to do so, and climb ladders to reach equipment/parts/storage.

• Ability to work overtime as needed.
