Job Summary
As a Lead Electrical Field Engineer, you will serve with a strong focus on electrical systems, power distribution, instrumentation, and constructability. You will provide on-site technical leadership, support safe execution, ensure quality workmanship, and coordinate closely with field supervision, craft, subcontractors, and project management to deliver complex power generation projects.
Job Description
- Serve as the lead field engineering resource for electrical scopes, including power distribution systems, cable tray, conduit, grounding, lighting, instrumentation, and electrical equipment installation
- Interpret and communicate electrical drawings, single-line diagrams, schematics, specifications, loop drawings, and vendor data to field crews and craft supervision
- Support constructability reviews and resolve field design issues in coordination with engineering, quality, and supervision
- Perform quantity takeoffs, progress tracking, and installation verification for electrical systems, conduit, cable tray, wiring, and related components
- Assist in development and execution of work plans, work packages, energization plans, and installation sequencing
- Coordinate field layout, elevation control, and as-built documentation related to electrical installations
- Plan, schedule, and coordinate electrical work activities with supervision and union craft personnel
- Order, track, and schedule delivery of electrical materials, conduit, cable, cable tray, switchgear, transformers, and related equipment
- Support commissioning readiness by ensuring electrical completion, punch list resolution, testing coordination, and turnover documentation
- Lead and support field quality inspections, compliance with specifications, and installation tolerances
- Prepare and participate in Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) and promote a strong safety culture in daily field activities
- Participate in toolbox talks, safety meetings, and site safety audits
- Provide technical oversight and field support for electrical subcontractors and vendors as required
- Perform material takeoffs from electrical drawings, specifications, and vendor documents
- Assist with review and coordination of vendor drawings, shop drawings, and technical submittals
- Support preparation of RFIs, field clarifications, and engineering change documentation
- Assist in preparation of purchase orders and subcontracts related to electrical scopes
- Support schedule development and updates with electrical installation activities and milestones
- Maintain project documentation including daily reports, photos, RFIs, turnover packages, and as-built records
- Support job cost tracking, forecasting, and cost report reviews related to electrical scopes
- Assist Project Management with change management, quantity tracking, and scope verification
Skills Required
- 5+ years of construction field experience, with strong emphasis on electrical work
- Experience leading or mentoring field engineers and coordinating with craft supervision
- Proven ability to read, interpret, and identify discrepancies in electrical drawings, single-line diagrams, schematics, specifications, and contract documents
- Strong understanding of electrical systems, power distribution, grounding, conduit systems, cable tray, instrumentation, and installation methods common to power generation projects
- Familiarity with NEC, NFPA, and applicable electrical codes and standards
- Experience supporting electrical testing, energization, and commissioning activities
- Ability to work in active construction environments and access all areas of a jobsite in varying climates

Education/Training/Certifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline
