You’ll work closely with senior leadership to lead, mentor, and support a talented estimating team while maintaining hands-on involvement in the bidding process. Your focus will be on accuracy, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Key Responsibilities:
Estimating & Bidding
- Review new bid opportunities and collaborate with the estimating management team to define project scope, schedule, and strategy.
- Analyze drawings, specifications, and related documents to ensure accurate takeoffs and proposals.
- Oversee and review estimates to ensure precision, consistency, and compliance with client and company standards.
- Conduct and support final bid reviews prior to client submission.
- Step in to prepare estimates directly as needed for select projects.
- Mentor and guide a team of estimators, fostering collaboration, accountability, and professional growth.
- Balance workloads and ensure deadlines are consistently met.
- Support your team in client communications, supplier negotiations, and problem-solving during the bid process.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, safety standards, and best practices.
- Monitor trends in labor, material pricing, and market demand to inform estimating strategies.
- Maintain strong relationships with vendors and subcontractors to ensure competitive pricing and dependable partnerships.
- Work closely with project management, engineering, and operations teams to align estimates with project execution.
- Participate in project kick-off meetings and ensure seamless handoffs from estimating to operations.
- Provide input on value engineering and design alternatives during preconstruction.
- Review post-project performance and use lessons learned to refine future estimates.
- Help maintain and enhance the cost database, pricing models, and unit cost references.
- Identify process improvements and champion the adoption of new estimating tools and technologies.
- Review, assign, and oversee all change order estimates.
- Collaborate with project teams and clients to finalize pricing and documentation.
- Participate in RFPs for design-assist projects, ensuring proposals meet technical and pricing requirements.
