Responsibilities
- Assess and respond to the patient’s physical, psychosocial, and spiritual needs; act as a patient advocate.
- Use professional nursing judgment to implement perioperative care and address identified problems; manage IV therapy as needed.
- Communicate patient assessments to the care team and ensure coordination of care throughout the perioperative process.
- Transcribe and implement physicians’ orders accurately; admit patients efficiently and ensure proper site marking and documentation.
- Document in the electronic health record accurately and timely; verify that all surgical procedures and paperwork are complete prior to discharge planning.
- In PACU, monitor airway and vital signs, manage pain control, and consult with the surgeon/anesthesiologist as needed; facilitate safe transition to Phase 2 discharge criteria.
- Maintain familiarity with anesthesia supplies, assist with nerve blocks as indicated, and be aware of crash cart and medications for emergencies.
- Support team in room turnover and contribute to cost-containment without compromising patient care.

Requirements
- Active RN license in Pennsylvania (or eligible for licensure by endorsement/compact) to practice in the assignment location.
- Current BLS certification; ACLS preferred depending on site needs.
- Perioperative or PACU nursing experience; 1+ year highly preferred.
- Education: Nursing degree from an accredited program.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced outpatient perioperative setting and collaborate effectively with anesthesia, surgical, and nursing teams.
