Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Autonomous (AV) Driver Trainer to support the training and certification of safety drivers and operators for autonomous vehicle programs. This role focuses on classroom instruction, behind-the-wheel training, and safety compliance for advanced vehicle technologies. The ideal candidate has a strong background in commercial driver training, safety protocols, and operational readiness in fast-paced, technology-driven environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver new hire, refresher, and remedial training for Autonomous Vehicle Safety Drivers and Operators
• Conduct classroom training on AV policies, safety protocols, disengagement procedures, and incident response
• Provide on-vehicle/behind-the-wheel training in autonomous and manual driving modes
• Ensure training programs comply with DOT, state, federal regulations , and client AV safety standards
• Certify drivers for operational readiness and document training completion
• Support retraining related to performance improvement, safety incidents, or disciplinary actions
• Evaluate driver performance, situational awareness, and adherence to AV protocols
• Maintain accurate training records, certifications, and compliance documentation
• Coordinate and update training schedules and calendars
• Promote a strong safety-first culture within autonomous operations
• Collaborate with operations, safety, and engineering teams to continuously improve training effectiveness
• Respond professionally to incidents, disengagements, or emergency situations

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Logistics, Transportation, Engineering, or related field (preferred)
• 4+ years of training delivery or fleet operations experience
• 4+ years of supervisory or lead experience (preferred)
• Proven experience training commercial drivers or safety operators
• Valid CDL Class B with Passenger Endorsement (required)
• Strong understanding of AV operations, safety protocols, and defensive driving principles
• Experience working with advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) or autonomous vehicle programs is a plus
• Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills
• Proficient in MS Office applications and training documentation systems
• Strong organizational, analytical, and time-management skills
• Ability to lead, coach, and motivate drivers in technology-driven environments
• Willingness to work flexible shifts or hours , including nights or weekends
