Visitor Experience Associate, Indian Steps Museum, Airville
Indian Steps Museum is seeking a Visitor Experience Associate for its 2026 season. This unique museum, one of the first in the nation (1941) dedicated exclusively to Native American cultures, is nestled along the Susquehanna River and adorned with more than 10,000 artifacts.
LOCATION: Indian Steps Museum, 205 Indian Steps Road, Airville, PA, 17302
POSITION SUMMARY:
Part-time seasonal position with no benefits, 6-24 hours per week, April-October. Must have availability 2 – 4 days, Friday – Monday. Salary Range $16 - $17 per hour.
This position is focused on operating the gift shop and engaging in visitor services at Indian Steps Museum. With the support of other part-time staff, this position will be responsible for interacting with visitors, monitoring on-site activities, and carrying out daily chores.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
- Providing excellent customer service to guests, and whenever interacting with the public or stakeholders.
- Engaging guests with accurate, authentic, and enthusiastic interpretation.
- Monitoring visitor use of the site, including enforcement of rules and regulations.
- Understanding applicable historical and interpretative materials.
- Conducting his/her/their self in a courteous, respectful manner at all times in the workplace. There is zero tolerance for harassment (sexual or otherwise), obscenity, or incident escalation.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Good work ethic and ability to work without close supervision.
- Highschool degree or equivalent.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Willingness to learn new skills.
- Competency in use of Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
