What's your day like?As the YMCA Kitchen Manager, you will play a vital role in supporting the children's nutrition program within our childcare programs. You will be responsible for all aspects of preparing, serving, and planning for meal programs and facility banquet services at our branch. Your creativity and culinary expertise will shine as you develop nutritious and delicious menus that cater to the unique dietary needs of children. What we're looking for in a Kitchen ManagerTo thrive in the role of YMCA Kitchen Manager, you should possess a range of skills and qualifications. At least one year of institutional cooking food ordering experience is highly desirable, as it will allow you to hit the ground running and ensure smooth and efficient operations in the kitchen. Having a Food Handler's License or a willingness to obtain one is crucial, as it demonstrates your commitment to upholding proper food safety and sanitation practices. You should also have a deep understanding of the proper conditions for food storage and serving to maintain freshness and quality. Knowledge of catering to children with food allergies and implementing measures to prevent cross-contamination is essential in providing a safe dining experience.
Basic math skills are necessary for measuring and calculating serving portions accurately. Lastly, proficiency in spoken and written English is required to effectively communicate and maintain records. Bring these skills to the table and join our dynamic team!
Knowledge and skills required for the position are:
- At least one year of institutional cooking food ordering experience highly desirable
- Possess a Food Handler's License or willingness to obtain
- Knowledge of proper conditions of food storage and serving
- The ability to understand the needs of children with food allergies

- Ability to follow nutritious menus and prepare sufficient quantity of foods for center population
