Mental Health Worker

The Mental Health Worker (MHW) for the Child/Adolescent Partial Hospitalization Program, working within a bio-psychosocial model, provides the following social services functions: facilitates therapeutic groups; assists with treatment planning; completes psycho-social assessments; conducts crisis interventions; and assists with basic consultation to clients and families with information on mental health issues; participates in short term supportive family and individual therapy, group therapy, and discharge planning. The MHW will facilitate three (3) groups per day depending on PHP census and will predominantly spend at least six (6) hours per day (8:00am to 2:45 pm) in direct contact with patients. The MHW utilizes evidence based practice within a trauma-informed therapeutic setting in assisting clients achieve their optimal level of mental and emotional wellness in order to be transitioned back into their home school district.
Fundamental Duties/Essential Functions
Provide daily group therapy to clients in the FACE to FACE program in accordance with professional standards and policies/procedures of the facility. Co-facilitate family therapy sessions with clients in the FACE to FACE program. Ability to resolve all crisis situations appropriately. Perform initial and ongoing assessments/evaluations on potential clients on a scheduled and/or emergency basis. Complete documentation as required by the clinic's policies/procedures via EHR. Attend FACE to FACE administrative/clinical meetings. Complete Utilization Review assignments. Responsible for facilitating partial services and assessments as determined by and according to program standards. Prepares materials for facilitating sessions and or groups. Maintains client files according to program standards. Assists with treatment planning and goal setting through contact with clients, family, colleagues and other staff. Evaluates behavioral and emotional needs of clients and family members. Manages client files by having appropriate documents with in the allowable time frames. Attends meetings regarding client's progress. Scheduled for 40 hours per week as needed by the program. Attends training, staff meetings, and supervision as needed and according to program standards. Maintains safe, orderly and therapeutic physical environment for clients including crisis intervention. Maintains ethical boundaries with clients. A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college with a major in chemical dependency, psychology, social work, counseling, nursing (with a clinical specialty in the human services field) or other related field. Must possess a valid Driver's License and access toreliable transportation.Qualification Standards
Two (2) years clinical experience. Minimum two (2) years direct experience in individual and family group therapies, crisis intervention, and treatment planning. Strong clinical assessment skills required. Experience in facilitating groups preferred. Ability to communicate effectively with professionals and clients/families. Ability to make accurate assessments and provide appropriate treatment. Demonstrate skills as an effective team member. Demonstrate skills as an effective leader. Ability to establish rapport with a wide range of clients and employees. Good listening skills. Excellent communication and writing skills. Cultural sensitivity. Ability to work independently with strong organization skills and attention to detail. Willingness to participate in staff meetings and trainings provided.
